Water Colored Memories

The colors of the rainbow
Have turned to shades of gray.
And the rays of golden sunshine
Are behind the clouds today.

I walk among the shadows
Where no one can see my pain.
Like a water colored picture
That was left out in the rain.

No longer a vibrant image
To know what once had been
Now just a faded memory
That's softly blended in.

One day is just another
As the image is washed away.
Until there's nothing left;
Just a blank and empty page.

And the sound that was a melody
Of a song from deep within
Is not even an echo,
But a whisper in the wind.

A water colored memory
Words written from my heart
Read and then forgotten
The image has left no mark.

So I walk among the shadows
I am there but you can't see.
And the song that has been silenced
Can be heard among the trees.
