Tempo of Rhyme
I like to write words that rhyme
Words that keep to the tempo of time
To the tic tock sound from a little box
Like the one that sits on the piano top.

I remember the piano I used to play
When my fingers on the keys relayed
The sound that came from little strokes
Read from a sheet of musical notes.

Way back then I used to dream
When music I wrote that I would sing
One day I'd be some kind of star
Now it's poems I write from the heart.

Music and poetry are like best friends.
In tune with each other that takes a bend
That follows down a path of sound
And flies into space that comes around.

In the form of echoes that reverberate
In joyful noise that a voice can make.
And still it is in the play of words
My voice is quiet, but yet is heard.

I no longer play the piano keys
But tap on a board in words you see.
Making rhythm with words that rhyme
Words that keep to the tempo of time.
