Witches Night!

There are things that go bump in the night
Eyes that glitter in the dark for fright.
The lighted pumpkins that cast a glow
On this hallowed eve that we all know.

Around the corner there is a squeak
A sound so eerie we dare not peek
The rustling hush of scurrying leaves
Creates a wondering of moving feet.

Then out of the darkness there is a howl
A screeching menacing sound of an owl
That's perched in the dead branch of a tree
And knows all the goings on that it sees.

Now there's a group of kids at the door
Pressing the bell and I know what for!
Trick or Treat they cry out loud,
Monsters and ghouls holding bags out.

I sigh with relief as I pass the dish
Through candy and goodies the grubby hands sift.
Then they move on to the next lighted porch
To say Trick or Treat and ask for more.

It's then that I see my reflection glare
In the pane of glass it gives me a scare!
The face is green; above that a pointed hat
And I'm sporting a dress that is very black.

Against the wall is a big straw broom
I laugh with glee for the time will be soon.
That on this night of witches tales
I'll be riding the wind,
And across the moon I'll sail!!
