Treasured Gems

I close my eyes and feel your touch,
And see the face I love so much.
Searching out the unexplored
Seeking out the heart adored.

Yet silence is a quiet friend
And distance stretches beyond the bend.
Standing alone on my two feet
Defying elements that want defeat.

I find I'm stronger than ever before
Though capable of so much more.
And freedom feels like that of wind
That takes me flying on a whim.

Landing on your outstreched hand
Timidly trusting that hand of man.
Yet knowing I could fly away,
Into some other time and place.

Still I could be so content
To snuggle close would be heaven sent.
For I'm a woman who's been set free
That wanted those things that would never be.

Needing bonds of satin and silk
To gently bind not pulled to tilt.
With tenderness yet wild passion
On a bed of rose petals would be my fashion.

But in my life I have learned,
That what you want must be earned.
Yet somethings will always be denied.
So I keep those dreams locked up inside.

But every now and then again
I take them out like treasured gems.
To hold them close when I'm alone
Then I put them away so no one knows.
