Light of the Morning

I awake in the early morning,
Waiting for the light of day.
The trees ripple slightly.
And the leaves slowly wave.

I think of the darkness of night time
And those thoughts that kept me from sleep
As I waited for the light of the morning
Watching the moon slowly sink.

There's a blush now on the horizon
Shifting grays to lavender pink
The promise of a new day is coming
And I wonder what this day will bring.

The birds are cheefully singing
A melody soft and sweet
While the morning is still unfolding
I ponder the path at my feet.

The sounds of the world around me
Remind me of tasks that repeat.
Like the blessed sun that rises
That dries the tears from my cheeks.

Though it is good to remember
Yet it's best still to forgive
Then the heart can lift to the heavens
And the soul then can be filled.

Yes, another day is upon me,
And I think about those that I'll meet,
To spread joy and love to others
For its best to share than to keep.
