Any flowers today the little girl asked,
As the Vender was pulling away.
He stopped and grinned then winked his eye
As he pulled out a lovely bouquet.
The little one smiled at the beautiful sight.
He held a bunch of roses
some pink and some white.
Her momma was sick and feeling low.
She wanted a rose to lift her momma's soul.
In a trembling voice she asked how much.
For all she had was a single dime.
She had helped the teacher after school,
And was given a dime for her time.
"A dollar a rose and twelve buys the bunch,"
The Vendor said loud and clear.
Then he saw the little girls' smile fade,
As she wiped away a tear.
The child sighed and showed him the dime.
Then turned to walk away.
The Vender said "Wait! I have a rose
That is red and perfectly made."
"For you little lass, I'll sell for a dime.
If you smile for me, just one more time."
She gave him the money and took the rose,
Her smile was pure and sweet.
The Vendor laughed and his heart felt right.
As the little girl skipped down the street.
For it had been the best sell of the day.
A single red rose for a dime.
